I hear your footsteps
On the ground
I pause and then
I turn around

But there’s no
One standing there
And I think
That’s so unfair

I hear your voice
Whispering in my ear
But the moment after I smile
The sound disappears

And I’m left
Feeling lonely
Because I don’t want
You to leave me

So, I try to ease my pain
Remembering that our love is strong
It will hold us until we’re back together
And that won’t be long

I hold onto my memories
I hold them very tight
Pull them all around
To get me through the night

And every now
And then
I’ll dream I’m back
In your arms again

Sometimes I have doubts
But I know in my heart
You will never leave me
You will never depart

And I’m left
Feeling stronger
Cause I don’t have to
Worry any longer

So, I’m able to ease my pain
Remembering that our love is strong
It will hold us until we’re back together
And that won’t be long

At times it seems
I’ll never get there
A moment longer
Is more than I can bear

But with every
Breath it takes me
A bit closer
To our eternity

But for right now
I must stay here
Enduring until
I can disappear

So, I try to ease my pain
